Freakishly consistent

Freakishly consistent

Whenever you’re making a positive lifestyle change, two things are happening simultaneously:

  1. You’re establishing a new habit.

  2. You’re breaking an old habit.

And the old habit has the home-field advantage.

So in order for the new habit to have a fighting chance, you have to be freakishly consistent.

If you play loosey-goosey with the new habit, it won’t stand a chance next to the power of the old habit.

So being super consistent, at least in the initial few months, is how you give the newer habit home-field advantage.

Whereas stopping and starting in those first few months will result in endless cycles of false starts and excuses.

The choice is yours.

One way to be freakishly consistent is to go slooooooow. All of our 108-day and 30-day challenges have a higher than usual completion rate because we take the less-is-more approach to change. In other words, meaningful change doesn’t have to be stark. It can be gradual—and the more gradual it is, the more consistent you’re likely to be. Start a challenge now.
