Long before I started living from a backpack, I spent at least a year traveling from a carry-on bag—starting with a weekend trip here, a week away there; then two weeks, then a month. Slowly, I started to know how much to pack for all occasions. And because I intentionally went slow, when it was time to take the big leap, it felt more like a hop of faith.
