Guru purnima

Guru purnima

Today is Guru Purnima—a day when meditators and other spiritual practitioners around the world recognize and celebrate their beloved teachers.

“Guru” is Sanskrit for “remover of darkness,” and “Purnima” means “full moon.”

As the full moon light dispels the darkness of the night, our teachers help to dispel our internal darkness.

To celebrate Guru Purnima, take a moment tonight to light a candle, and make a wish that will benefit you and others through you.

And if appropriate, take a quiet stroll in the light of tonight’s full moon.
