He skated 3,000 miles across America
I’ve had a lot of incredible guests on the podcast.
People who’ve walked across continents, who’ve lived on the kindness of strangers, who’ve pitched a tent on Skid Row just to understand what that experience was like.
But I’ve never talked to someone who skateboarded 3,000 miles — coast to coast.
Chad Caruso holds the world record for skateboarding across America. Alone.
No sponsors. No support vehicle.
Just him, a backpack, and 55 miles of skateboarding a day on the open road.
The entire trip took two months.
Chad was raising money for a drug-prevention organization that inspires youth to find their natural high and develop the skills and courage to live life well.
It was his way of giving back, after doing the opposite in his younger years.

.
Growing up, Chad was in a completely different place.
He was disengaged from school—eventually dropping out at 16.
He skated, then started drinking, and quickly racked up two DWIs.
His story could have ended in jail.
But Chad took sobriety seriously, he started a YouTube Channel, and became intentional about giving back to the skateboarding community that he’d taken so much from.
And choice by choice, he began turning his life around, and helping others along the way.
In this week’s episode, we unpack how he did it. And we explore:
What happens when you stop waiting for permission
The surprising role silence played in rebuilding his life
How mastering one thing can unlock everything else
The moment he realized no one was coming to save him
What skating 55 miles a day teaches you about endurance — and about yourself

This conversation isn’t really about skateboarding…
It’s about what’s possible when you commit to giving back in your own special way — and how far that commitment can take you.
To your growth,
Light
