How to give feedback
In the last episode, we talked about what to do when it feels like you’re outgrowing someone who was once close to you.
Do you just cut them off?
(If you didn’t get a chance to watch that one, you can check it out here.)
Anyway—let’s say you decide to stick it out and offer them some constructive feedback instead.
More often than not, when we give well-meaning but unsolicited feedback, it goes sideways.
That is… unless you follow the steps.
In today’s episode, I’m walking you through the 5 steps to giving feedback in a way that the other person can actually receive.
.
.
Follow these 5 steps, and the person may genuinely thank you for sharing your perspective.
Ignore them, and that same person might laugh at you, brush you off, curse you out—or worse.
We’ve all stumbled when trying to give someone feedback—especially when we care.
And for a lot of us, those moments may be the reason certain friendships or relationships ended.
The ground-level conclusion is: they just don’t want to grow.
But that’s not really true. Everyone wants to grow.
The real issue is you didn’t make them feel seen before offering your opinion.
That’s Step 2 of giving feedback.
And hardly anyone follows Step 1.
