How to manifest

The universe doesn’t give an “F” about you, says today’s podcast guest Dr. James Doty.

Dr. Doty is a renowned neurosurgeon, as well as a big proponent of the science of manifesting—key word being “science.”

Manifesting is more than just putting photos on your vision board and hoping for the best, he says.

He started the Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education at Stanford University, and he’s authored two books on manifesting:

Dr. Doty’s backstory is fascinating as well…

As a teenager, he wandered into a small magic shop, where he befriended the shopkeeper’s mom, who taught him “mind magic” practices for coping with his chaotic family life.

Cut to 25 years later, Dr. Doty is worth $80 million dollars, he’s got a few houses, a private island, and lots of fancy cars…

But… he wasn’t happy.

And within the span of six weeks, his material world crashed.

He found himself $3 million in debt. His houses and cars were repossessed, his family became estranged.

That experience inspired Dr. Doty to revisit the inner practices he’d long neglected from his mentor in the magic shop.

And slowly, he began to rebuild—but this time, from the inside-out.

Dr. Doty and I explore a slew of topics like destiny, free will, toxic positivity vs negativity bias, the power of the placebo effect, and much more.

If you’re looking to understand how manifesting actually works on a scientific level, then this conversation is a must-listen.

And as always, thanks for tuning in.
