Looking forward

Looking forward

Whenever I meet vegetarians and I mention how I used to be plant-based for 15 years, I always get the same bewildered question: why did you stop?!

But, it doesn't really matter why I stopped.

Just like it doesn't really matter why I changed my name to "Light" in 2005.

Or why I went nomadic in 2018.

Or why I’m not married.

Or why I decided to base myself from Mexico.

What matters is that we don't stay locked into to some made-up dogma about what we're supposed to be doing.

And that we stay open to new ideas, new perspectives, and new ways of living—even if it contradicts how the majority of society operates.

Life can be a grand experiment.

And when we meet others who've experimented in curious ways,

We can look forward with them, instead doing what most people do...

Which is dragging them back into the past.

The main (and mostly unsatisfying) reason for my various experiments is I was just curious about doing things differently. And my heart-led curiosity was enough to justify the change. “Well what about this or that consideration?” people wonder. But, for me, the consideration that overrides all others is the one coming from my heart. And if you’re curious to know more, I wrote about it extensively in my most recent book, Travel Light.

My passions include keynote speaking, leading meditation retreats, hosting my podcast, and writing self-help books, like Travel Light, Knowing Where to Look, Bliss More, and The Inner Gym. I’ve also got a thriving online community with fun challenges and masterclasses for becoming the best version of you. You can see more about me at lightwatkins.com or follow my journey on Instagram.
