No one can betray you if…

No one can betray you if…

The most common form of betrayal is self-betrayal.

No one can betray you if you’re asking the right questions:

Is this the best I can do?

Does this situation feel right to me?

Do my actions represent my values?

Am I taking responsibility for my role in this?

Have I spoken my truth or honored my boundary?

Would I be proud of this if everyone knew what I was doing?

If your answer is “no” to those (or similar) questions,

There’s a possibility that you could be betraying yourself.

Which means it’s time to start making different choices.

In Travel Light, Principle 2 of Spiritual Minimalism (page 47) opens with the following quote: “Not following your heart is a form of self-betrayal—which means whatever comes after that is on you.” And I go on to tell a story from my personal experience with betrayal.
