The middle finger
The middle finger
I've taken a cold shower every morning for about 7 months now.
I've never once looked forward to it, but I've also never once regretted it.
I do it because I want to strengthen the part of my mind that hates doing hard things.
You know, the part that tells us to hit "snooze" one more time.
That part tries to sabotage anything creative that we want to do.
Hell, it's telling me right now to stop writing this message and go get in my warm bed and watch a movie.
Steven Pressfield, author of The War of Art, calls this voice “resistance.”
And starting the day with a cold shower is my way of giving resistance a middle finger.
Now you may not care for cold showers, but how can you resist resistance today?
