What lights you up

What lights you up

The concept of a life purpose is perfectly exemplified in the movie 8 Mile, with Eminem.

Eminem’s character worked at a factory during the day, and participated in rap battles at night.

In the meantime, he was broke, he was beaten up, his girlfriend cheated, there was drama at home—and yet, he kept showing up to the rap battles.

And at the end of the movie, after winning the championship battle, his friends wanted to go out and celebrate, but he had to go to his night job.

In other words, there is no yellow brick road to your purpose.

You build it one brick at a time, one choice at a time—while you’re working your job/s and while you’re supporting your family.

It’s not either-or. It’s both-and.

You must handle your responsibilities, and make time to show up for what lights you up inside.
