When your dream job becomes a burden

When your dream job becomes a burden

What if the thing you built with love is now burning you out?

My friend Sean Hoess has been there.

He’s the co-founder of Wanderlust—the global wellness festival that brought together yoga, music, and mindfulness for over a decade in more than 20 countries.

I participated in many Wanderlust events—that’s actually how I first met Sean.

But before all of that, Sean was a frustrated musician posing as a lawyer—which, of course, led to burnout.

Many of us know that feeling: wondering if we should keep doing the thing we went to school for… or take the leap of faith into something that feels more aligned.

Sean took the leap. He co-founded Wanderlust and experienced massive success.

And then, he started feeling that subtle sense again—that something wasn’t quite right.

So he let go.

In our conversation, Sean shares how to recognize when your purpose starts turning into a prison—and how to walk away, not in resentment, but with clarity.

You’ll learn:

  • How success can quietly shift your original intention

  • How to know when it’s time to let go—even when things look “successful”

  • What it really takes to build something that lasts (without losing yourself)

  • Lessons from growing a global wellness brand, then starting over with a deeper why

This one’s for anyone who’s questioning whether they’re still on the path they started.
It’s a reminder that letting go isn’t failure—it’s often the beginning of something more aligned.

To your growth,

Light
